There are many different opinions about the Twilight Saga. Some people love it to the point of obsession, they call themselves Twi-hards. Some completely loathe it, judging it based on the movies, which are nothing compared to the books. Stephenie Meyer is the author of the Twilight Saga, she is a very talented writer; Twilight, the first book of the series, was written based on a dream that she had.
It just so happens that I have Twilight fever. We are reading the first novel in the series for my English III course. Although this is my second time around with the book, I'm picking up extra things that I didn't read the first time around; it's like I'm analyzing it this time. We're learning in my class how to identify its archetypes, setting, and hero's journey.
I never thought that Bella could be the hero, I always thought that Edward was the hero; my teacher says that Bella and Edward both have their own hero's journeys and that they are parallel to each other. I realize now that that is true. If you ever have the chance to read Midnight Sun, you really should. It's like Twilight from Edward's perspective. Unfortunately, it isn't published. Overall, I think the Twilight Saga is a great series. I would definitely recommend it to any young adult.
